چکیده

The structure of analytic signals is investigated by means of the relation between analytic signals and functions in the Hardy space. It is shown that an analytic signal is made up of two parts, one depends on the amplitude of the signal and another on the boundary value of an inner function. Based on this result, properties of the instantaneous frequencies of these two parts are studied, and it is found that negative instantaneous frequencies are caused by the amplitude of a signal. Finally, such conditions that an analytic signal is of positive instantaneous frequency are presented.

On analytic signals with nonnegative instantaneous frequencies

In this paper, we characterize all analytic signals with band-limited amplitudes and polynomial phases. We show that a signal with band-limited amplitude and polynomial phase is analytic if and only if it has nonneg-ative constant instantaneous frequency, i.e., the derivative of the phase is a nonnegative constant, and the constant is greater than or equal to the minimum bandwidth of the amplit...

Adaptive Optimum Notch Filter for Periodic Noise Reduction in Digital Images

Periodic noises are unwished and spurious signals that create repetitive pattern on images and decreased the visual quality. Firstly, this paper investigates various methods for reducing the effects of the periodic noise in digital images. Then an adaptive optimum notch filter is proposed. In the proposed method, the regions of noise frequencies are determined by analyzing the spectral of noisy...

Adaptive Decomposition of Functions into Pieces of Non-Negative Instantaneous Frequencies

We introduce the concept adaptive decomposition of signals into basic building blocks, of which each of non-negative analytic instantaneous frequency, called monocomponents. We propose certain methods based on p-starlike functions and Fourier expansions for such decomposition. We justify the terminology mono-component used in signal analysis.

Model-based approach to envelope and positive instantaneous frequency estimation of signals with speech applications

An analytic signal s(t) is modeled over a T second duration by a pole-zero model by considering its periodic extensions. This type of representation is analogous to that used in discrete-time systems theory, where the periodic frequency response of a system is characterized by a finite number of poles and zeros in the z-plane. Except, in this case, the poles and zeros are located in the complex...

A unified theoretical harmonic analysis approach to the cyclic wavelet transform (CWT) for periodic signals of prime dimensions

The article introduces cyclic dilation groups and finite affine groups for prime integers, and  as an application of this theory it presents a unified group theoretical approach for the  cyclic wavelet transform (CWT) of prime dimensional periodic signals.
